Mission Statement
To develop a student-led effort toward environmental awareness and stewardship by promoting sustainable relationships between the ecological, economic and social systems on campus and in the local community.

Our Community
The University of Maine is virtually a small town. Counting students,
faculty, staff and visitors, some 10,000 people pass through
campus each day.
The resources required to support
these daily routines have a significant
impact on the ecology, economy
and communities both
inside and around the UMaine campus.
Green Campus Initiative hopes to foster practices
at UMaine that will minimize negative impacts to these areas
and allow positive impacts to flourish.

We Can Make A Difference!
Green Campus Initiative
believes students have the power and responsibility to improve our community.
We
hope to harness the energy and creativity of UMaine students in stimulating
a grass roots effort towards an enjoyable, sustainable campus.
