Resident Parking

Crowded parking lot

Campus Parking

Resident parking is located near most residence halls. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. To see a color-coded map showing the locations of residential (or RED) parking lots, please visit: http://www.umaine.edu/locator/. This link will open in a new window.

All Resident Student lots—at all times—are restricted to resident-permitted vehicles only. Special authorization for guests may be obtained from the Parking Manager at Parking Services, http://www.umaine.edu/parking/. This link will open in a new window.

Motor vehicles using any parking area must be registered (State and University), in operating condition at all times and in compliance with campus parking rules.

Any person using any parking area—including resident parking—will cooperate during periods of snow removal and when the parking area has been closed for an authorized event, by moving his or her vehicle promptly when requested by University staff.

Regulations

Parking permits are required for all cars on campus. Permits (including Visitor Permits) are available at the Student Service Center in the Memorial Union. Permits are not required for metered parking spaces.

All lots are designated either for residents, commuters or faculty/staff. Parking is not available for all permits in all lots.

Prior to bringing a vehicle to campus, please read and understand the UMaine Parking and Transportation rules and regulations at: http://www.umaine.edu/parking/rules.html. Taking the time to do so may help you avoid costly penalties. This link will open in a new window.

For more information about Parking Services visit: http://www.umaine.edu/parking/default.htm

The price for resident and commuter permits is $50—valid Sept 1st thru Aug 31st. Buy in advance of the school year and, if you are a resident student, the permit will be in your residence hall mailbox when you arrive on campus.

Protect the environment, reduce emissions and save money—ride a bike, skateboard, roller blade or walk to class instead of driving across campus.
