Students are responsible
for cleaning and maintaining their own personal living spaces. Students
are also asked to be respectful of friends and neighbors and
straighten up after themselves in common areas.
Property Management
provides brooms, dustpans, mop buckets and mops for student
use. Vacuum cleaners are
also available for cleaning area rugs and carpeted areas. Students
are responsible for providing their own cleaners.

Housekeeping Services
Members of the housekeeping staff are professionals who work in cooperation
with Residence Life and Programs staff and residents to ensure that the
residence halls are clean and in good repair.
The cleaning of public areas is scheduled Monday through Friday. In the spirit of good community living, residents
are expected to respect housekeeping personnel and assist staff
in maintaining a high quality of cleanliness.

Biohazard Clean-Up
Biohazards are biological materials—including
bodily fluids—that present a risk or potential risk of
exposing humans, animals or the environment to blood-borne pathogens. Custodial
and housekeeping staff are trained in the proper handling of
biohazard clean-up but are responsible only for addressing spills
that occur in public spaces.
Students discovering a spill of bodily fluids
in a public space, such as the bathroom or lounges, should not
attempt a clean up but immediately contact a Resident Assistant,
who will report the spill for clean up.
Students are required
to clean up spills of their own bodily fluids that occur in
private rooms. Custodial
staff will assist only in extreme cases—such as severe
illness—and the resident student may be charged an additional
fee for this service.
