Candles
Incense
Oil lamps
Grill or hibachi (there are designated sites
for grilling on campus)

Electrical Components

Certain electrical components can pose risks to the health and safety of students in a group living situation. For this reason, the following items are prohibited in dorm rooms:

Appliances with heating elements including
hot plate, coffee pot, toaster oven, sandwich
maker, toaster
Stand alone microwave ovens
Halogen lamps
Neon signs
Octopus lights
Two-prong extension cords
Air conditioners of any kind

Personal Items to Leave at Home:

• One-of-a-kind, irreplaceable items
• Large furniture that will not fit in your room

Weapons = Zero Tolerance

Weapons of any kind are prohibited on the University of Maine campus.

A weapon is defined as: an instrument of offensive or defensive combat, something to fight with, and is generally any device capable of projecting a ball, pellet, arrow, bullet, missile, shell, or other material.

This shall include, but not be limited to, firearms, bows, rockets and slingshots. Ammunition is any material capable of being projected by a weapon and makes the weapon operational.

If you have questions or need more clarification on this issue, contact Public Safety at 207-581-4040.
