Professional & Technical Writing

Site Navigation:

Home

Students who study professional & technical writing like to mix writing with editing and document design. Each student brings experience and knowledge from the fields where they study and work. Students learn to recognize audience and user needs. They develop confidence in working with new tools and technologies, and students practice talking to others about documents in tactful and helpful ways.

Courses

Students take introductory and advanced courses in these areas:

During class, students work on real projects and leave class with one or two portfolio pieces. This semester, students are working with IFixIt.com to develop instructional repair guides and with the 15-40 Connection, an organization that raises awareness about cancer in people who are 15-40 years old.

Students cap off their coursework with field experience in a professional workplace.

Where Students Are Working

Graduates have success on the job market. Some students receive job offers and start working before graduating. Graduates are working or will soon be working for these organizations:

Others are attending graduate, law, and medical schools.
