David Wihry holds the rank of
associate professor of economics and public administration Dr. Wihry
teaches finance courses for both the School of Economics and the
Department of Public Administration.
Education
Professor Wihry received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Maxwell School
of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University 1972 after
receiving his A.B. in Economics 1964 from Merrimack College.

He has published articles in the
Maine Center for Economics Policy, Maine Choices and Maine Policy Review, contributed reports addressing
the Methodology for Comparing Benefits and Costs of Local Rail Service
Assistance Projects and the Benefit-Cost Analysis of the Bangor and
Aroostook Railroad Ft. Fairfield Branch Rehabilitation Project.
Dr. Wihry's current research is on public higher education expenditure
patterns and cross-subsidization among degree programs.
Service
Professor Wihry has served as the Chair of the Department of Economics
for a number for two terms and is currently serving on the Faculty
Senate and several subcommittees.
Professor Wihry received the
Presidential Public Service Achievement Award from the University of
Maine in 1989.
