Materials and Resources

• 25% of all building materials were extracted and manufactured within a 500-mile radius to support the regional economy and reduce the environmental impact of transporting.  This more than doubled the LEED benchmark of 10%.

• Building materials: Many strategies for minimizing the environmental impact of construction both in waste and in new materials were employed in this project.

• Flooring in exercise areas contains 58% post consumer recycled rubber tires.  The running track contains 40% post industrial recycled rubber.

• 84% of the waste removed from the site during construction was diverted from a landfill and recycled or reused.

• Dedicated recycled stations are located throughout the building.
