Lucas Manley, Animal Science/Pre-Vet Major:
"Everything is so hands-on. You have the hands-on experience, if you want it. You can just sit back and read the textbooks, go to class and listen to the professors and the lectures, but you have this wonderful facility here where you can also have this complete hands-on experience to learn how to deal with horses and sheep and cows. Having Witter Farm right here gives me a huge leg up. When you have it right here in front of you, it's just so much more rewarding and you get to see what you might be dealing with later on in life. I've never been a real big competition sports person, but the intramurals are great. I played intramural flag football--really laid back. You show up when you want to and have a really great time with your friends. I looked at a bunch of schools and I'd never seen one with an adventure center. And I thought that would be a great thing--to keep my mind off not being at home. Just the opportunities I had available to me to go climbing or kayaking, or just a bazillion other things that you could do with your time."
