Joe Carr

Joe Carr is UMaine's Director
of University Relations. In that role, he is responsible
for oversight of the strategic direction of University Relations. He works with the university leadership
and others to develop plans for increasing UMaine's visibility to
prospective students, alumni, friends and the media. Carr is the
point of contact for news reporters working on stories involving
UMaine and he serves as the university's media spokesperson. He
also produces UMaine's daily news update, UMaine Today Online.
Carr, who grew up in Hermon, has a bachelor's degree in political
science from Providence College and a master's degree in mass
communication from Emerson College. A former television reporter
and producer, he has worked at UMaine since 1993.

Carrie Ward

Carrie
Ward is the Administrative Associate for University
Relations. She oversees matters pertaining to department
activities, and serves as an intermediary to the Director on
matters affecting the department. She has worked at UMaine since
1979, and in University Relations since 1988.

Kristen Andresen

Andresen is a writer and editor for University Relations,
where she is responsible for content in UMaine Today
magazine and admissions publications. A Massachusetts native who
grew up in southern Maine, Andresen graduated from the University
of Maine journalism program in 1997. Before joining University
Relations, Andresen spent 11 years at the Bangor Daily News, where
she was an award-winning features writer and columnist. She
continues to write a weekly column, ShopGirl, for the BDN. Since
2006, she has also worked as assistant editor of Inside Arts, a
Washington, D.C.-based trade magazine for performing arts
presenters. In her spare time, she serves on the executive board
of the University of Maine Alumni Association, and she is a member
of the President’s Task Force on Alumni Engagement.

Jeannine
Hashey

is the Administrative Assistant for University Relations. She came to
the department in July 2000, after working in the Athletics
Department from 1993-2000. Before that, she was a stay-at-home
mom, raising eight children. As department secretary, Hashey
creates and maintains an enormous catalogue of photographic
images used in various print and Web publications university-wide.
She also is responsible for photography scheduling, departmental
billing and invoicing, retrieving and saving images in different
formats, as well as greeting and directing callers and visitors.

Manager of News Operations/Media Producer

Lisnet is the Manager of News Operations/Media
Producer for University Relations. He is responsible for all aspects of video, audio
and multimedia production for faculty, staff and student groups,
as well as UMaine as a whole. Ron also is involved in planning,
shooting and editing a variety of productions that are distributed
to clients across campus, and the university's Web site. In
addition, he helps to coordinate the technical aspects of news
conferences and events that happen on campus. Lisnet grew up
in Westport, Conn. He has a forestry degree from the University
of Maine and worked as sports director at WVII-TV in Bangor
before coming to the university.

George Manlove

Manlove is the News Writer for University Relations, and
contributes articles and news releases to UMaine Today Online, the
Inside UMaine employee newsletter and other university-based
publications. His areas of concentration include noteworthy
activities and accomplishments of faculty, staff and students in
the colleges of Liberal Arts & Sciences and Business, Public
Policy & Health. An Old Town native, Manlove holds a bachelor's
degree in English Literature from the University of New Hampshire.
He is a former daily newspaper reporter and editor, has maintained
a public relations practice, and was founder, editor and publisher
of the Augusta, Maine-based Kennebec Business Monthly
newspaper until joining the UMaine community in January 2004.

Mike
Mardosa

Mardosa is a Senior Designer in University Relations. In his position, he works on the visual aspects
of communications media (mostly print). He is a Maine native—raised
and educated—and he considers himself a Maine chauvinist.
Prior work experience includes freelance advertising, Public
Television production, and installing gravestones.

Mitchell
Media Producer

Mitchell is a Media Producer in University Relations. In that role, he is responsible for radio, television
and multimedia productions for various departments on campus,
as well as for a number of institutional marketing pieces. Regular
productions include Black Bear Minute and UMaine Minute, two
features that air on radio and television stations in central
Maine. Kim is an area native, graduating from Old Town High
School in 1971, and has a bachelor's degree in speech from the
University of Maine. Since his graduation in 1976, Kim has produced
and directed for Maine Public Television and Radio, KVLU radio
in Beaumont, Tex., as well as several commercial radio and TV
stations in Maine. Kim also is the advisor to UMaine's student
radio station, WMEB-FM.

Caroline Moore

is responsible for the design and maintenance of multiple University
of Maine
Web sites, and is the primary tech support contact at the campus
Web Office. She has worked at UMaine as a student employee
since 2001, and in a professional capacity at University Relations
since May 2006. A native of northern Maine, she graduated from
UMaine in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in New Media.

Margaret
Nagle is Managing Editor of UMaine Today, a magazine
highlighting creativity and achievement at the University of Maine.
UMaine Today
magazine, published six times annually, is distributed statewide
and nationally. Nagle has overall responsibility for the magazine's
content, both in print and online. She also co-manages the university's
Web-based
calendar
of events. A New York native, Nagle has a bachelor's degree in
journalism from the University of Maryland and a master's degree
in education from the University of Maine. A former newspaper
reporter, Nagle has been a member of the staff
since 1985.

Nichols is a Senior Designer in University Relations. Responsibilities include publication design, display
design, and PowerPoint presentations. Nichols grew up in Old
Town and graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
She worked as an art teacher in Aroostook County, and a publication/broadcast
designer for Maine Public Broadcasting and WLBZ in Bangor before
coming to UMaine in 1979.

Christopher
Smith is UMaine's Manager of Electronic Communications. He oversees
the management of UMaine's Web sites, including the university's
top-level site,
UMaine.edu, and he also contributes to the content and
publication of a number of department Web sites--the
University Relations Web sites, the President’s Web site, UMaine
Today Online, UMaine Today magazine and Inside UMaine. Smith also serves as copy editor for UMaine Today
magazine. A Maine native with degrees from
UMaine in English and business, Smith has worked in UMaine’s
Department of University Relations since 1993. For the past 12 years, he also has been the film critic for the Bangor Daily News.

As a science writer for University Relations,
Tom Weber reports on the notable achievements of faculty and
student researchers for the UMaine Today magazine and
online edition. A New Yorker by birth, he got a journalism degree
from UMaine in 1974 and went on to work for nearly 25 years as a
reporter, feature writer and columnist for the Bangor Daily News.

Williams is the Manager of Creative Services in University Relations. Williams’ focus is on the creative implementation
of visual identity for the university. Design projects range
from print, multimedia and television to Web, display signage
and a wide variety of miscellaneous projects involving visual
communication. Williams works closely with University
Relations
staff and the campus community to meet the institutional needs
of the university. She also is a resource for outside vendors
and licensees who need to meet the style guidelines maintained
by the department. Williams is one of three designers for UMaine
Today, a magazine published every other month featuring
creativity and achievement at the University of Maine. A Montana
native, Williams moved to Maine at the age of five and grew
up in Deer Isle. After college, she and her family settled in
Hampden. She has a bachelor's degree in art from UMaine, and
has worked for her alma mater since 1981.
