Employment - Resident Hall Desk AssistantAt the
beginning of the academic year, the Community Coordinator of every
hall/village hires a desk assistant to provide additional hours
and services in the hall/village office. Desk Assistant work each
afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until student staff comes on duty. This
time changes depending on the building.
Duties of the Desk Assistant include:
- Greet students and visitors who come to the desk for service
- Sort and forward mail (US and campus) and packages
- Maintain labeling for mailboxes
- Distribute hall equipment according to hall policy
- Post public notices on lobby bulletin boards and remove out
of date materials
- File and other related office duties as assigned by the
CC/ACC
Desk assistants are expected to alert a staff member of policy
violations, although they are not required to intervene.
The CC/ACC will provide job training and on going supervision.
Job Requirements
- Must understand and apply confidentiality
- Must have a positive attitude to help students
- Must have work-study
Starting pay of $7.00/hr
Students will need to have a minimum of $1200. dollars to hold
this position for the full semester. The student employee is
responsible for informing the CC/ACC of any changes in his/her
work study allocation during the semester.
Desk attendants will need to sign a waiver for a background
check completed by the Department of Public Safety. In order to
meet the necessary hiring criteria all students must provide proof
of identification which includes at least two forms of ID.
