Community Governing BoardsResidence Life encourages you to
participate in your Hall Governing Board.
Each complex at UMaine has a Community Governing Board, or an CGB.
Being in your CGB is a great opportunity to:
- make decisions about the activities in your residence hall,
like holiday parties, socials, and volunteer service projects;
- set priorities about how to allocate programming funds set
aside for your residence hall;
- develop leadership skills--leadership is an important skill
to develop during college;
- be invited and involved in other leadership opportunities,
like seminars and conferences, that happen on campus.
Being involved in your CGB gives you a chance to:
- work with other residents in your hall. Coming and
participating in group decisions is an important citizenship
skill!
- be identified as a leader in your building;
- start to make connections with other students, student
government organization members, and student affairs and other
administrators on campus.
The CGBs are advised by a Community Coordinator or an Assistant
Community Coordinator who lives in and is responsible for the staff and
community development in your residential complex. Getting involved at UMaine can be a little scary, but your
CGB
is a great place to start!
