Anyone who wishes to discuss a sexual assault incident will receive assistance and services from any of the following responders. All local phone numbers have the (207) area code.

Collect calls accepted. 24-hour confidential hotline counseling and referral for victims; advocates can be with victims. Books available for loan.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Emergency response, transportation, and criminal investigation; often assigns a female officer with a female victim.

Can collect physical evidence after sexual assault, have nurses and physicians trained to treat victims. Victims are advised not to wash or change clothes prior to going to the hospital.
