Welcome to University of Maine Rugby Football Club

The University of Maine Rugby Club was established in 1973 and we have worked hard to maintain this legacy.  Rugby is a unique sport that requires all 15 men to work together for 80 grueling minutes, it isn’t a sport for the faint hearted.  This is the ultimate team sport and each and every rugby team has a special brotherhood that can’t be duplicated by any sport.  This brotherhood continues off the pitch with a unique culture of singing obscene rugby songs and of course drinking a few pints.  Taking the pitch on saturday is one of the best releases one can find.  Whether you’re a potential player or general fan of rugby and you’re in the area come check out the University of Maine Men’s Rugby Club!

This fall we finished 4-2 with exciting wins over Colby, and UMF.  We also had solid games against UNE and MMA, we suffered tough defeats against both Bates and Bowdoin.

We are very excited for this spring season as we will be participating in multiple tournaments including the infamous Beast of the East, and of course the cherished Maine Cup.  The Alumni Game is tentative due to snow and will announced as soon as possible.

“In 1823, William Webb Ellis first picked up the ball in his arms and ran with it. And for the next 156 years forwards have been trying to work out why.” – Sir Tasker Watkins
