ACPSA/AAP
East-West Thinker's Symposium

Science and Cosmology:
Responses from Cross-Cultural Philosophy

July 8-10, 1999
University of Melbourne
Melbourne, Australia

Abstract Deadline: March 30, 1999

The Asian and Comparative Philosophy Society of Australasia  (ACPSA) announces the next East-West Thinkers Symposium, to be held within the annual conference of Australasian Philosophers (AAP) July 1999 in Melbourne, Australia. We take this opportunity to invite you to come to the fine city of Melbourne for this conference. The dates are July 8-10 and the venue is the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria. (The Australasian Philosopherís Conference runs from the 5th to 9th, in case someone would wish to come for the entire duration.)

The theme chosen for the East-West Symposium is "Science and Cosmology: Responses from Cross-Cultural Philosophy and Religion". There will be other papers on cosmology within the AAP which will overlap with our symposium.

The conference convenor is Purushott Ama Bilimoria, Honorary Secretary of the ACPSA, with assistance from Dr. Len OíNeill of the University of Melbourne. Please email to the following address if you would like to attend, present a paper, or need more information. A Web page will shortly have details about the entire conference,as well as accommodation arrangements, how to get to Australia, Visa requirements, climate, and currency.

This will be an exciting conference, the third of its kind organised by the ACPSA in Australia (Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney), and annual streams within the AAP meetings organized by our Jay Garfield (surely to be missed in Australia and New Zealand!)

SACP members are especially invited, since the ACPSA has had encouragement from SACP President B. Gupta and Treasurer J. N. Mohanty to continue the close working relationship, exchange of ideas, and joint hosting of conference that the two societies have had for some time now. Consider this to be your conference!

Please fill out the participantís form and send by fax or email to:
