Program Chair's Report

John J. Holder
St. Norbert College
April 2000

Program Chair's Report * Program Committee

Thanks and congratulations are in order for all of the SACP members who have contributed to the conference panels over the pat year. Although I was not able to attend the recent panels at the AAR and th e APA Eastern Division, I have heard from members in attendance that the panels were very well received.

The SACP Program Committee has two new members. John Schroeder (St. Maryís College, Maryland) has graciously accepted appointment as the SACP liaison to the AAS. Gereon Kopf (Luther College) has likewise agreed to serve as the SACP liaison to the APA Central Division. I am grateful for their willingness to serve on the Program Committee.

Contact information for committee members appears elsewhere in the newsletter. Please contact the Program Chair or the relevant liaison with your ideas for conference panels or to express your interest in serving as a respondent. Membersí feedback regarding our Societyís programs is strongly encouraged. If there are areas of Asian or Comparative philosophy that members would like to see covered in future panels, please contact me.

Frank Hoffman (APA Eastern Division Liaison) has informed me that he is well along in the preparations for the 2000 APA Eastern Division panel. This panel will be announced in the next newsletter. For the upcoming AAR meeting, I have developed a panel with three presenters on the theme "Japanese Philosophy in Cultural Perspective." I am looking for respondents for the panel. Please contact me at holdjj@mail.snc.edu, if you are interested. Information regarding the panels for the upcoming APA Pacific Division and the AAS are given [here].

The SACP Program Committee seeks to serve the academic interests of the members of our Society. Thus, we strongly encourage and welcome the input of all members and appreciate membersí willingness to become involved in the Societyís programming.
