The University of Maine Counseling Center, a full-range mental
health facility, provides services and programs that promote
the personal development and psychological well being of University
of Maine students. We assist in the development and maintenance
of a university community that is conducive to growth and maximizing
student educational achievements. The University of Maine Counseling
Center offers a safe environment to talk openly with trained,
caring, and impartial professionals.
Services include: group, individual, and couples psychotherapy;
prevention and educational programs; consultation and training;
crisis intervention and emergency services; psychiatric services;
and psychological and career testing.
There is no charge for counseling and psychological services.
University of Maine students with 6 credits or more are eligible
for the full range of counseling and psychological services,
and students carrying less than 6 credits are eligible for group
counseling, consultation, and educational programs. We will help
any student who is in a crisis situation.
Communication within the Counseling Center is confidential.
Information can be released only with the written permission
of the client, or in very rare instances when required by law
(i.e., person is a danger to her/himself or others).
