Employee Policy Overview
Overview for current employees:
Managers, supervisors, and unit heads will receive information about the policy on relationship abuse in the workplace and should participate in an educational session to increase their awareness of relationship abuse, resources, and their role and responsibility when responding to incidents of relationship abuse in the workplace.
As stated in the policy, all members of the UMaine community must be informed of the policy and made aware of campus and community resources. To that end, an employee orientation will be delivered by the Safe Campus Project Coordinator and persons from Human Resources and Spruce Run.
Employee Policy Overviews are now being scheduled on the following dates:

Orientation for new employees:
UMaine currently offers a one-day orientation session each month to all new employees who started work in the previous period. This orientation includes a session entitled “creating a supportive workplace climate,” which is delivered by representatives from Safe Campus Project, Public Safety, Employee Assistance Program, and Human Resources. Information about the “relationship abuse and the workplace” policy will be incorporated into this session. For more information about new employee orientation please contact David Scheidt in Human Resources.
Other:
Other training and consultation can be arranged (e.g., for supervisors, department chairs) to meet your group's unique needs. This can build upon, complement, and/or stand alone from other training and educational programs.
If you have any questions about the policy or employee orientation, contact David Scheidt, in Human Resources at 581-2365, or about the role and training of Responders, please contact Carey Nason, Safe Campus Project, at 581-2515.
