The Sensor Science Engineering and Informatics (SSEI) IGERT program is a PhD training program in the multidisciplinary area of sensor systems: ranging from the science and engineering of new materials and sensing mechanisms to the interpretation of sensor data.
Three research areas provide the core for a comprehensive education program that includes traditional training in the contributing disciplines, interdisciplinary training that examines the interconnections across the three focus areas, plus training in entrepreneurship and technology commercialization, ethical and legal aspects of ubiquitous sensing systems, international perspectives, professional and personal development, and responsible conduct of research.
