I'm not prepared
Engineering students come from numerous
backgrounds. Many enter college right after graduation from high school. Some
come after serving in the United States armed forces. Some leave dead-end
or stressful jobs and careers to pursue a career in engineering. A few students
transfer from other majors. A sizable portion of the student body begin their
engineering studies with remedial courses. Students that want to be engineers
almost always become engineers. Most engineering programs, including the engineering
program at the University of Maine, have free tutors, remedial classes, and
help sessions. If a student is motivated to be an engineer, the University
of Maine will help students prepare for a rewarding career in engineering.
