SOCIOLOGY MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

CORE REQUIREMENTS . . . . . . 18 Credits
SOC 101 - Introduction to Sociology
SOC 301 - Social Organization: The Micro Picture
SOC 302 - Social Organization: The Macro Picture
SOC 390 - Logic of Sociological Inquiry
SOC 460 - Major Ideas in Sociology
SOC 499 - Senior Seminar

SOCIOLOGY ELECTIVES  . . . . 18 credits
(At least 9 of the 18 credits must be 300- or 400- level courses.  SOC 310 may NOT be an elective)

STATISTICS COURSE . . . . . . . . 3 credits - choose one of the following:
ANT 462 - Numerical Methods in Anthropology
MAT 215 - Introduction to Statistics for Business & Economics
MAT 232 - Principles of Statistical Inference
PAA 315 - Saying It with Numbers in the Public Sector
PSY 241 - Statistics in Psychology I
SOC 310 - Quantitative Reasoning in Sociology

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY . . . . .  3 credits
All Sociology majors must complete the Junior English Proficiency requirement by the end of their junior year. ENG 212 - Persuasive and Analytical Writing, or ENG 317 - Business and Technical Writing, will fulfill this requirement (with a grade of "C" or better).

NOTE: All required courses (except SOC 101) must be successfully completed with a grade of "C" or better.  Required courses and electives must accumulatively equal a 2.0 GPA.
