Ph.D., Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; M.A. Ohio State University

Dr. Cheng received his B.S. (1980) from the National Taiwan University, and M.S. (1984) from the Ohio State University. He Received his Ph.D. from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985. He joined the faculty at the University of Maine in 1988.

Dr. Cheng has focused research activities on the application of economics methods and econometrics modeling to food demand analysis, consumer behavior, and food marketing issues. His objective is to develop economic models for the vegetable and seafood sectors that can be used to evaluate demand changes, market structure and competition, and trade.
