Welcome to the School of Economics at the University of Maine!

Economics is the social science that looks at the production, consumption, and distribution of goods and services within society. Although students will gain strong analytical and quantitative skills, which are highly demanded skills for future employment, economics touches on other areas of environmental, social, and political discourse. The undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the School of Economics provide a unique combination of academic strength and flexibility to accommodate a wide variety of professional interests. The School prides itself on the close working relationships it fosters between students and faculty as well. Class sizes are small; advanced courses typically have fewer than fifteen students and faculty are more than open to advising students; strengthening their interests so they are capable of pursuing and achieving their goals.
