Candidates
for the degree must, before graduation, attain a level of performing ability
equivalent to that required for the Junior Standing exam in the B.M.
degree program. Each instrumental area sets requirements for this exam. A Senior
Project will be accomplished under the guidance of an assigned faculty member
during the final semester of the senior year. This project (3 credit hours)
will be chosen from one of the following areas: a research paper; an original
composition, or, in consultation with the applied music instructor, a lecture-recital.

The B.A. in Music requires one year of a foreign language. All University of
Maine students must complete all of the
General Education Requirements
as well as College
of Liberal Arts and Sciences Bachelor of Arts and University requirements.
