Professor of Music
Dr. Dennis Cox

Dennis
K. Cox received the B.M.E. in Vocal Music Education from the University
of Nebraska, the M.M. in Choral Conducting from
the University of Colorado, the M.A. in Music Education from West Virginia
University, and the D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the Conservatory of
Music of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Prior to assuming his position
as
Director of Choral Activities in 1978 at the University of Maine, Dr. Cox
was Assistant Professor of Music at Salem College in West Virginia, and taught
vocal music in Colorado and Nebraska. Dr. Cox is a frequent guest clinician
who has
conducted festival choruses in 24 states, Canada, and Europe.
The University
Singers, under his direction, tour the Northeastern United
States for one week each spring and tour abroad once every four years.
The
Ensemble has performed for both M.E.N.C. and A.C.D.A. conferences.
Dr. Cox is director for University of Maine choirs, who perform major choral-orchestral
works each spring with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Cox is a
past
president of the Maine chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
