Richard
Roper is Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the University of Maine. He received
his BM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, his MM from Yale School
of Music, and his DMA from the University of Maryland. As a Harriet Hale
Woolley Scholar, Dr. Roper spent a year studying in Paris, and was seen in
recitals and performances at the American Church, La Fondation des Etats-Unis,
and the Sorbonne. He has performed with many of the ensembles in northern California
including the Berkeley Symphony, the Sacramento Philharmonic, West Bay Opera,
and the Modesto Symphony. In addition, he has studied and performed at the
Aspen Music Festival, the Music Academy of the West, and the Norfolk Chamber
Music Festival. His book, Elizabethan Duets, an edition of two part music by
Thomas Morley, has recently been published by Colin Publications. Dr. Roper’s
major teachers are Chris Gekker, Allan Dean, Mario Guarneri, Antoine Cure,
and Raymond Mase.
