 Scholarships for Children of Company Employees or Union Members

 

Certification Requirements

Several companies have established scholarships for children of employees or of members of a union. Specify your parent's name and employment membership on your application form; you need to complete the certification of eligibility only once. A representative of the company or union must complete the certification section.


* Denotes that filing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required for determining eligibility for a particular scholarship

Print a University of Maine Scholarship Application

 

The Bath Iron Works (BIW) Scholarship Fund *

Established for BIW employees and their sons and daughters. Students must be Maine residents, demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing.

 

The Benjamin J. Dorsky Memorial Scholarship Fund *

Awarded to financially needy students who are Maine residents. Preference shall be given to students whose parents are members of the Maine AFL-CIO.

 

The CPM Constructors Scholarship Fund  

Awarded to full-time or seasonal employees (within last 12 months) or to children, stepchildren or grandchildren of current CPM employees majoring in engineering, technology or business.

Special Application

 

The Gorham Savings Bank Scholarship Fund

Awarded to children, stepchildren or grandchildren of current Gorham Savings Bank employees.

Special Application

 

The Jay Foundation Scholarship *

Awarded to members in good standing of the Maine AFL-CIO and their spouses and dependents as defined by the Internal Revenue Service.  Recipients must demonstrate financial need. When financial need is equal, academic merit shall be the determining factor.

 

The Katahdin Forest Products Scholarship Fund 

Awarded to children and grandchildren of current Katahdin Forest Products employees.

Special Application

 

The Ralph W. Leavitt, Sr. Scholarship Fund *

Awarded to financially needy children of members of the United Papermakers International Union workers or to children of employees of unionized paper mills in Maine.

 

The Lunder Scholarship

Awarded to any former Dexter Shoe Company employee or their children.

Special Application

 

The Herbert E. Sargent Scholarship Fund

Awarded to children, grandchildren and spouses of current Sargent Corporation employees.

 

The Sebago Technics Scholarship Fund

Awarded to children, stepchildren and grandchildren of Sebago Technics' current employees.

 

The James F. White Scholarship Fund

Awarded to students who are children of Emery-Waterhouse Company employees.

 

The Woodard and Curran Employee Scholarship Fund

Awarded to children of Woodard and Curran, Inc. employees.
