Non Work-Study

 

Regular non work-study student employment is part-time, on-campus employment for undergraduate or graduate students attending the University of Maine. Departments may also employ high school students or students from other colleges. Employers may use a variety of methods to advertise job openings; word-of-mouth, posting announcements on bulletin boards, placing ads in the campus newspaper or posting a job with the Office of Student Employment.

Employer Eligibility

Any department on-campus can hire students to work part-time. Each department must complete a University of Maine Employer Application every award period (academic year and summer).

The employer and student choose each other. Neither the employer nor the student is under any obligation to establish a working relationship until both parties have reached a mutually satisfactory agreement. Students cannot begin working for employers until they have completed a Student Employment Authorization through the Office of Student Employment and an I-9, W-4’s and mandatory direct deposit form with Student Payroll or Student Employment
