W-4 & I-9 Forms

ABSOLUTELY NO PAYCHECKS WILL BE RELEASED UNTIL THESE FORMS ARE COMPLETE

If you have not worked for the University during the last year or never worked here, you will need to complete the W-4 and I-9 forms before you begin working.

The W-4 helps the Payroll Office determine your tax deductions. You can complete this form with your Employer, at Student Payroll, 120 or 124 Corbett Hall or Student Employment, 5781 Wingate Hall.

Federal W-4 Form
Maine State W-4 Form (W-4ME)

The I-9 is used to verify your eligibility to work here in the U.S. This form must be completed within 3 days of your date of hire or you may be terminated. Your supervisor will have the I-9 available to you at the time of hire. To complete the I-9 you must provide proof of both identity and employment eligibility. Some documents, such as a passport, satisfy both requirements, but otherwise you’ll need one document for proof of identity (driver’s license, MaineCard, Military ID, etc.) and one for proof of employment eligibility (valid social security card, birth certificate issued in the US, Native American tribal document, etc.) the full list of acceptable documents is on the back of the I-9.

Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9 Form)
