First Year Residential Experience

The University of Maine fully recognizes the challenges facing first-year students transitioning from high school to college and will support students in dealing with these challenges by placing them together in a supportive, enriched, and vibrant community. By doing so, students will be better equipped and prepared to deal with the academic rigors, social pressures, and new opportunities available at the flagship institution in the University of Maine System

Our Mission:

FYRE will proactively and intentionally provide first year students with programs, resources, and services so they may be academically successful, experience personal and social growth, are equipped to be a responsible global citizen, and be well prepared for their future here at UM and beyond.

What students can expect from FYRE:

FYRE Programming

Students can expect an abundant amount of programming in the FYRE environment. Programming will include academic and personal skill development, social, recreational, and wellness programming. Students and parents can access an online calendar of events at:
