MAINE Hello
Greeter/Team Leader  Signup Form

The Maine Hello is a unique UMaine tradition of welcoming first year students to our campus. Greeters, including faculty, administrators, professional and classified staff, meet new students and their families as they arrive to move into their assigned residence halls in the First Year Residential Experience .

First Year Residential Experience

The First Year Residential Experience (FYRE) is a collaborative and enriching experience for first-year students at the University of Maine. This enriched educational environment will purposefully provide first-year students an opportunity for academic achievement, social integration, and personal development. Beyond these vibrant and engaging programs and events, students will be able to access excellent services provided on site by key UMaine departments and staff.

The University of Maine fully recognizes the challenges facing first-year students transitioning from high school to college and will support students in dealing with these challenges by placing them together in a supportive, enriched and vibrant community. By doing so, students will be better equipped and prepared to deal with the academic rigors, social pressures and new opportunities available at the flagship institution in the University of Maine System.
There are many ways to be involved, offering a warm handshake, giving directions, helping to unpack cars, carrying things to student’s rooms, or leading a campus tour. Greeters are assisted by PAWS and Greek Greeters  who are returning student volunteers.

MAINE Hello Greeter/Team leaders

There are many ways to be involved, even for an hour or two: offering a warm handshake, giving directions, handing out check-in materials, helping to unpack cars, carrying things to student’s rooms, or leading a campus tour. Greeters are assisted by PAWS who are returning student volunteers.

Please join us as a Greeter or Team Leader in welcoming the Class of 2012  on August 29, 2008

Hall Team Leaders coordinate the effort of the Greeters and student volunteers assigned to that hall... Team Leaders are critical at the entrances of each hall as they keep the unloading process running smoothly and ensure a friendly welcome to arriving students and families. Their 3-4 hour overlapping shifts provides continuity for the MAINE hello process. Team leaders will need to attend a Briefing on Wed August 27, 2008
