Postdoctoral Research Associate

Position Description: The successful candidate will join a team of researchers from the University of Maine and the University of New Hampshire working on a multi-year, large-scale NSF-funded research project. The position will focus on applying economics to interdisciplinary research of emerging water and coastal resource management issues. The successful candidate will work with researchers affiliated with an established, productive interdisciplinary research center at the University of Maine. The position will afford the successful candidate numerous professional development opportunities, including publishing journal articles with colleagues, training and experience writing grant proposals, networking and presenting work at professional conferences, and training and experience mentoring students. If desired, the successful candidate may also have opportunities to teach. The initial appointment will be for one-year with an opportunity for a fixed-length renewal.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in economics, resource or environmental economics, natural resource management or other field applicable to a social science approach to water and coastal resource management is required by date of hire. Advanced training in microeconomics and quantitative methods; and strong written and oral communication skills are also required.
Preferred Qualifications: Potential for or demonstrated experience publishing in high-quality refereed journals and conducting interdisciplinary research; and interests in applied research of water and coastal resource management issues, the value of information, and the role of institutions in environmental and natural resource management.
