Katahdin Region Wood
Technology
In the Katahdin Region, UMaine is leading a study group
made up of both non-profit economic development
organizations and private companies to suggest ways that
technology-based enhancements to wood products can add
value to, and create new markets for the region's primary
natural resource. The initiative is funded by a grant
from the Maine legislature and the group expects to make
recommendations in four key areas to diversify the
economic base in a geographic area from Millinocket to
Sherman.
