ENG 101 - English Composition
Students practice the ways in which
writing serves to expand, clarify, and order experience and knowledge,
with particular attention to persuasive writing. Satisfactory completion
of the course depends upon quality of weekly writing assignments as well
as demonstration of proficiency in college-level writing.

ENG 001 - English Writing Workshop
Designed for students who need to
develop and to practice the basic writing habits necessary for
successful university-level writing. Taught largely on a small group
basis. Credit does not count toward graduation.
(Pass/Fail Grade Only.) Credits: 3
MAT 103 - Elementary Algebraic Models
in our World
An introduction to the applications of
algebra with a focus on data analysis and model building. Topics
include: graphs, algebraic equations and functions. Primary attention
will be given to using linear, quadratic and exponential functions to
represent and interpret real world applications.
Satisfies the General Education Mathematics Requirement.
Prerequisites & Notes:
MAT 101 or 2 years of high school algebra.

PSY 100 - General Psychology
Lecture discussions of basic
psychological processes, including learning, perception, motivation and
emotion, higher mental processes, individual differences, personality
and additional selected topics.
Satisfies the General Education Social Context and Institutions
Requirement.

TRS 100 - College Success Seminar I
Studies the issues new students
encounter as they enter the University of Maine through the Transitions
Program. It builds skills needed to be a successful college student.
Requires participation in activities that encourage bonding and
development of a learning community among entering Transitions program
students. Offered for Pass/Fail Grade Only.
Prerequisites & Notes:
Limited to first semester Transitions Program students.
Credits: 1
TRS 105 - College Success Seminar II
A continuation of TRS 100. The second
(spring) semester is designed to examine the significant issues most
common to the transitional experiences of Transitions Program students.
Focuses on career decision-making process, self-awareness, cultural
development, and writing and presenting a personal mission statement.
Offered for Pass/Fail Grade Only.
