Inside UMaine Now Online |

Inside UMaine, the university's monthly
faculty/staff newsletter, is now exclusively available on
the Web at
http://www.umaine.edu/insideumaine. The shift to
an online presentation creates opportunities for more
regular updates and it allows for more content than the
four-page printed format. Regular features include
President Kennedy's monthly Go Blue message, staff
profiles, the "Along the Mall" listing of faculty
presentations and publications, and monthly highlights
from
UMaine Today Online. The site also provides
navigation links to other online UMaine information
sources, including the
calendar of events. |

Camp Out for YouthAIDS Planned |
 |
Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) fraternity at
the University of Maine is hosting the annual Camp Out
for YouthAIDS on the corner of the mall, near Fogler
Library. SigEp will be on the mall collecting donations
for YouthAIDS through Friday, Sept. 5. The camp out is
one of SigEp’s
biggest events all year and usually pulls in about
$1,500, all of which is donated to increase awareness of
AIDS among people ages 15-24. SigEp
members are asking anyone with a spare dollar or change
to stop by and donate to help make this the largest
donation yet.

UMaine Racing Mare Tied for State Lead |
 |
Pembroke White Out, UMaine's six-year-old
racing mare, is currently tied for the lead as Maine's
top pacing mare during the current racing season. She has
won eight of her 17 starts, to go along with four places
and three shows.

here. Pembroke White Out has been at UMaine's
Witter Farm since November of last year. |

professor Mark Brewer commented on several recent
high-level administrative staff changes within the
Baldacci administration, for an article in Tuesday’s
edition of the Portland Press Herald. The Kennebec
Journal and Central Maine Morning Sentinel also carried

Dean of the College of Business, Public Policy and Health
John Mahon offered perspective on the advisability of
refraining from discussing partisan politics at work, in
an article in Tuesday’s
edition of the Portland Press Herald. |

Stephen Bowen, director of the Maine
Heritage Policy Center's Center for Education Excellence,
wrote a Wednesday Kennebec Journal/Central Maine Morning
Sentinel guest column about Maine's school consolidation
process. In the column, Bowen makes reference to a report
on the subject by UMaine education professor Gordon
Donaldson. |
