Volunteer Opportunities

Youth Alternatives/Ingraham is a South Portland organization that is looking for help at one of their Portland locations. They would like a volunteer who is interested in teaching their residents about gardening and supporting them in planting vegetable/flower gardens at their home away from home. First Congregational Church of South Portland is looking for some help maintaining the church gardens, as well as offering new ideas to enlarge and enhance the present site. If you are interested please contact Lois Hill or 799-1951


Rippling Waters Farm has several volunteer positions open at their farm. Some of these include Field & Harvest volunteer, Community Garden volunteer, Landscape Beautification volunteer, Greenhouse volunteer.

The Yarmouth Community Garden is looking for 1-2 Master Gardeners to help maintain their beautiful organic children’s garden and/or volunteer with summer children’s programming. Check out their website at www.yarmouthcommunitygarden.org

This would be a good fit for gardeners who want to complete their MG hours on a flexible schedule.

The Tate House is looking for volunteers to work in the herb gardens and give garden tours beginning May 6 and every Tuesday morning until the end of the growing season. Please contact Deb Locke for further information. 767-3275


A work day at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth is scheduled for May 23 between 9:30 and 2:30. Sedgewood has traditionally been one of our work day sites but this year our Saturday work day was a conflict for them. They have beautiful gardens that need the help of some willing Master Gardeners. Please contact Pat Valleau or 772-6868.
