Tanglewood logo.Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center is a nonprofit organization partnering with the University of Maine to accomplish a common goal -"to leave no child or adult inside". Tanglewood has been getting Maine youth outdoors and teaching them to be respectful protectors of the earth for more than 25 years, reaching over 3,500 youth and adults, each year.

Tanglewood's mission is to teach Maine youth and adults to be effective and caring citizens of the earth through affordable environmental education and nature-based experiences, and Tanglewood's vision is to create a place where people learn to live responsibly and in balance with the earth.

Making friends, learning, and having fun are all central to the Camp Tanglewood experience and Tanglewood is filled with the wonderful energy of young people living and playing together outdoors. Our forest-based residential camp, is situated on the Ducktrap River in a beautiful, forested 940-acre section of the Camden Hills State Park in the Waldo County town of Lincolnville.

Blueberry Cove Camp, our marine-based camp, is located in Tenants Harbor and is an integral part of the Tanglewood experience - moving our forestry-based programs to the coast. At Blueberry Cove, campers explore and learn about the seascape through nature-based programs that include marine ecology, boating, water safety and sustainable living. Blueberry Cove's residential program will offer sailing, boating, gardening, creative arts and science.

Tanglewood is also proud to partner with Elderhostel to offer Maine residents numerous courses on an array of subjects, including one intergenerational program specially designed for grandparents and grandchildren. Elderhostel, a national non-profit organization provides adventures in lifelong learning for older adults through educational travel programs all over the country and throughout the world.

It is our hope that you will become a life-long friend and partner of Tanglewood's 4-H Camp and Learning Center today!

"I have a conviction that a few weeks spent in a well organized summer camp may be of more value educationally that a whole year of formal school work." Charles Elliot, former President of Harvard University.
