Tanglewood Volunteers Presented the Governor's Exemplary Service Award Home | News Articles | Village Soup Bill and Martha Leavitt's tireless efforts and exceptional contributions to Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center and other organization in the Northport area over the past 9 years were recognized at the 20th Annual Governor's Service Awards in Augusta on Monday. Governor John E. Baldacci and the Maine Commission for Community Service presented Bill and Martha Leavitt with an Exemplary Service Award, an award created to celebrate and recognize the exemplary work of Maine's volunteer community and presented to the most dedicated volunteers in the state. For the past 8 years, Bill has faithfully volunteered two days a week at Tanglewood helping Steve Clarrage and Rich Bouchard with the caretaking and maintenance needs of Tanglewood, while Marty has helped organize the camp's library and with mass mailings. The Leavitts are truly volunteers dedicated to Tanglewood and its mission. On hand for the Leavitt presentation were Cindy and Jim Dunhan, Tanglewood Camp Directors; Corey Pickett, Marketing Manager; Steve Clarrage, Facilities Management Caretaker; and Rich Bouchard, Facilities Management Coordinator. Governor Baldacci was impressed with the Tanglewood support team that accompanied Bill and Marty to the award service and commented on it in his speech.
