Habitat Stewards™ Program Habitat
Stewards™ is a volunteer education program of the National
Wildlife Federation® and, in Maine, is a joint effort with the
University of Maine Cooperative Extension. In a 30-hour program,
you learn how to improve habitat for wildlife in yards,
workplaces and other areas in the landscape. In return, you
volunteer for 30 hours doing habitat education or service
projects in your community. The
next program will be in the Fall 2008. Call or email the
Androscoggin-Sagadahoc Counties Extension Office in Lisbon
Falls, Tel: 207-353-5550 or 1-800-287-1458 (Maine only), if you
want to receive notification of the course. Contact for the
Habitats Stewards™ Program is Nancy Coverstone.
This
volunteer education program focuses on developing an understanding
our interconnected world and how each of us can contribute to
creating a sustainable future. Volunteers participate in a 30-hour
course of study, and commit to conducting 30 hours of community
outreach in collaboration with a community group, school, or
conservation organization, or as an independent project of their own
design. For more information contact Cathy Elliott at
207-581-2902,
celliott@umext.maine.edu, or go to our
website.
