UMCE’s Maine 4-H Project Record
4-H Awards Selection
Project Record Score Card
Based on the Danish System of Judging
Important to consider:
Ø Record completed by 4-H'er (unless restrictions apply) (means if member has a disability and needs an adult to write for him/her that a note needs to be attached to the record)
Ø Completeness of Record (fill in all sections)
Ø Attention to Detail (use correct format for dates, addresses and gives complete information)
Ø Neatness/Legibility (helps the judge read and understand the project)
Explanation of scoring
scale
(4) means that the project record
met and exceeded the criteria (for example: a member writes more than a sentence
about what he or she learn about the project and is not a generic sentence like
: I like cooking cookies.)
(3) means that the criteria is met with satisfaction (means that a good explain
is given, all parts of the requested info is stated, correct format for dates
and addresses
(2) means that the project record barely meets the criteria (gives minimum
information: under financial for example: Supplies purchase written cookie
ingredients cost $4.5 – there are no details)
(1) means that the project record did not meet the criteria (does not put
correct info or in incomplete
After using the rubric last year for the first time, judges wrote down how they scored so scoring would all be consistent. With the input of several leaders at a training, the following guidelines were created for the judges to use in scoring this year. We want you to have access to the rubric and the point system requirements so that you can self score your own and to see where you can make improvements on your record before passing it in to be judged. As in any judging or scoring, the judge has the final say. If you have questions about your scorecard, talk to your leader and if you feel you need more information or question a score feel free to call a Project Record committee member listed in your Leaders Directory.
(Please realize that if the space or line is blank it will receive zero points SO if something is Not applicable to your project but N/A in the space or line. Realize if you but N/A on financial expenses section for example for a cooking project, the judge would mark a zero because there is a cost of some kind to someone, either yourself, parents, club, or leader or a donation.)

The Financial Record section is where most members lose points on for not putting down all the items needed to make a project. For example: knitting a pair of slippers a person will down just the item ‘yarn’ but not pattern, needles or crochet hook, scissors, darning needle which are needed to complete the project and may have been provided but it was not recorded. A score of 1 would be given for just the one item. If the project used finger knitting than it should be stated. |
