Hancock County
Master Gardeners plan another successful
Perennial Plant Sale

Each spring, the Hancock County Master Gardeners hold their annual plant sale.  This year’s sale was held on May 12th, 2007 and was a big hit with gardeners from all over the county.  Hundreds of healthy perennials, annuals and even a few houseplants, all donated by Hancock County master gardener volunteers, friends and families, were purchased by eager area gardeners at reasonable prices.

The annual plant sale is always very popular and this year was no exception.  Approximately 35 master gardeners devoted hours to cleaning and preparing pots, dividing perennials, potting up plants, labeling pots, making signs, advertising the event, and all the sundry other tasks that go into organizing such a large event.  Their efforts paid off – this year’s goal of earning enough money to bring electricity and water to the new teaching greenhouse was exceeded, and the additional proceeds were used to pay for related project costs.

This year’s volunteers not only held an exceptional plant sale, they made great progress in preparing for future sales by creating new signs, laminated plant labels and information sheets.

The next Master Gardener plant sale will be held in May, 2008.
