Jim’s experience includes over 20 years of beef-forage systems research and outreach while on the faculty of the University of Missouri, and 20 years of commercial cattle and sheep production on his family farm in northern Missouri. The University of Missouri Forage Systems Research Center rose to national prominence as a result of his research leadership which encompassed many aspects of plant-soil-animal interactions and provided foundation for many of the basic principles of Management-intensive Grazing. |
Since 1975, David has owned Wellscroft Farm, one of New England's largest working sheep farms. In 2005, the eleven thousandth lamb was born, which now consists of a flock of roughly 200 commercial Dorset-Cross ewes. Wellscroft Farm has built up its excellence earning it the award of Farm of Distinction in 1999. David also raises and trains Border Collies which he uses on the farm every day and is also widely known and praised throughout New England for his entertaining and informative herding demonstrations. |
Lauchlin has more than 35 years of experience and service in Maine agriculture. He’s actively involved a host of agricultural boards, associations, and memberships. Before establishing his own AG Matters business, he worked for AGWAY advising farmers on their fertilizer and agronomy practices. |
