Earth Connections Volunteers: Creating Sustainable Communities

The vision of the Earth Connections Volunteers program is that volunteers see themselves as part of an interconnected world and are committed to creating a sustainable future. The goals of the program are:

  • to develop a committed corps of volunteers to conduct community outreach and leadership;
  • disseminate research-based information on ecology, natural resource management, sustainable living, and healthy lifestyles; and
  • provide a link between Maine citizens and organizations providing education, information, and services related to conservation, stewardship, and sustainability.

Volunteers will participate in a 40-hour course of study, and commit to conducting 30 hours of community outreach in collaboration with a community group, school, or conservation organization, or as an independent project of their own design.
