How You Can Help Give a Gift | Designations | Businesses Part of Tanglewood’s mission is to ensure that no child in Maine will be denied the chance to learn and grow amid the natural marvels here at our learning centers. That’s why we’ve kept all of our programs very affordable. However, there are still families and schools who cannot afford our fees. To fulfill our mission, Tanglewood has long made financial aid available for families and school groups. And that’s where you come in. Each year, thanks to the generous support of people like you—camper parents, alumni, friends of Tanglewood—hundreds of campers and school children are able to experience Tanglewood’s programs, programs they might otherwise have missed. Our curriculum touches hearts and minds, teaching values of teamwork, leadership, respect, and a love of the natural world—all of which prepare our young people to be tomorrow’s responsible citizens and community leaders. Only with your support can we continue to offer these valuable experiences to all Maine youth, experiences that can change their lives forever.
Tanglewood is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tax-deductible contributions can be sent to: Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center, One Tanglewood Road, Lincolnville ME 04849-5213. Make checks payable to "Tanglewood 4-H Camp". In the MEMO section, please include a designated area(s). Credit card donations can be made online by completing the University of Maine Foundation Online Giving Form. In the field, "Please use my gift in support of", you will need to include the following information: University of Maine Cooperative Extension - Tanglewood - 5-6-41814. You may also include a designated area(s) in this box or in the Comments box. Example: University of Maine Cooperative Extension - Tanglewood - 5-6-41814 - Financial Aid. General Support - Help provide unrestricted funds to Tanglewood, ensuring this organization provides the best support for its programs and those it serves. Facility Improvements - Tanglewood’s invaluable programs require adequate facilities, and they all require routine maintenance and upgrades to remain safe and comfortable. Donating to Facility Improvements ensures Tanglewood can continue to make the best better. Financial Aid - Contribute to the financial aid fund to help low-income families and youth at risk of poverty attend summer camp programs. 4-H Earth Connections - Tanglewood’s school program serves nearly two thousand school children annually, but since public schools lack the necessary funds to cover tuition costs the program has an annual budget deficit. Donating to this highly praised program helps schools benefit from enriching experiences outside of the classroom that also helps teachers meet state educational standards. Blueberry Cove Campaign - Tanglewood acquired the seaside camp, Blueberry Cove, in 2005. This camp will become a sustainable living education center and will offer an array of new programs. The Blueberry Cove Campaign needs sponsors to help restore many of the on-site buildings that require improvements for future camp sessions. For more information on ways to support Tanglewood, please call us at (207) 789-5807 or 1-877-944-2267 (toll-free in Maine). Business Sponsorship for Earth Connections School Programs Annual contributions from your business can help us shape the future of Maine’s youth! Join Tanglewood in supporting Maine Public Schools. Tanglewood’s Earth Connections School programs immerse students in a variety of discovery-oriented learning adventures in the outdoors (see pages 15-18). However, most public schools lack budgetary funds for learning opportunities outside the classroom. In addition, many students learn best when actively engaged by the subject matter. Tanglewood offers solutions for these needs through the 4-H Earth Connections School Program. Help keep the school programs affordable. Tanglewood school programs served more than 2,000 students in 2006. With the help of the community and local businesses, Tanglewood subsidizes its actual program costs by approximately 70% to remain affordable to Maine public schools. Business Sponsors receive:
