Teaching young people life skills necessary to succeed in the world!

A Boy and his goats

4-H Clubs are the most recognized and traditional form of "4-H.  4-H is the youth development education program of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. 4-H participants range from ages 5 to 19 and, traditionally, organize themselves into 4-H clubs to support each other as they take on "learn-by-doing" projects.

The 4-H year begins on October 1 each year.  At that time youth begin to enroll into existing clubs new clubs.  While it is possible to enroll in 4-H at any time during the year, the October 1 date provides a starting point to the year's activities.

Volunteers are at the heart of 4-H clubs.  Our trained and certified volunteer leaders organize and help the youth club members to plan club events and to work on individual projects.
