Dye Cutting Medicinal Culinary

Robert Stubbert Herb Garden

Working from a formal layout popular in the early part of the century, the Herb Garden was designed in 1995 by Tom Gasaway and June Sendrowski.  Ms. Sendrowski selected and planted the heritage herbs and by combining many unusual landscape elements such as historical farm implements, arbors, fences, stones and cedar logs has created a lovely addition to the University's grounds.

The garden is divided into four sections:
1. Dye-Fragrance Bed  2. Cutting-Everlastings Bed   3. Medical Bed 4. Culinary Bed.
Each of these sections is marked.   With your guide in hand, you can enjoy identifying the different herbs and learn a bit about their traditional uses.  In the guide each plant is preceeded by a letter:

(P) Perennial (A) Annual (B) Biennial (TP) Tender perennial

By clicking the camera.gif (242 bytes), you can see a picture that is in that part of the garden, clicking the A, B, C, D on the picture  you can see the detail of the garden.
