Post-Renaissance paganism.
Victorian literature, art, and culture.
The relationship between religion and literature and culture. Currently writing a book on the re-emergence of paganism in Victorian England, especially as seen in the paintings and writings of Carlyle, Ruskin, Morris, the Pre-Raphaelites, and the Aesthetes.
Primary teaching interests:
The nature of storytelling in film, poetry, fiction, art, cutlure, music and song--emphasizing live storytellers.
The relationship between paganism and Christianity.
The interaction of religion and science in Victorian culture.
The harmony between art and literature in Victorian culture.
