Version I'm Kim Mitchell at
the University of Maine with the Black Bear Minute.
Maine baseball drops three out of four at Vermont. Bears split Sunday's
doubleheader thanks to a 16 to 5 opening win, but lost the nightcap 9-1
behind a five-hit performance by Catamount pitcher Justin Albert.
Vermont's two starters Saturday shut down the Bears 4-2 and 1-0. Joe
Serafin the complete game victory in the first; Eric Thompson took a
no-hitter into the seventh, giving up a two out single to Kevin McAvoy--Maine's
only hit for the game.
Bears now at 19-26-1 overall and 7-13 in league play. They'll miss the
post season for the first time since 2000. They still have another
series to play at Binghamton to wrap up the year beginning on Thursday.
That's the Black Bear Minute. At the University of Maine, I'm Kim
Mitchell.
