Explore Maine

UMaine is in the middle of some of the most beautiful, unspoiled scenery you'll find anywhere in the U.S.  And it's all yours - year-round!

Mount Katahdin, Maine

Climb Mt. Katahdin, the beginning of the Appalachian Trail that runs all the way to Georgia.

All within an hour's drive: biking, fishing, hiking, scuba diving, whale watching and windsurfing. Rock climb nearby in Acadia National Park and sightsee atop Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak along the North Atlantic Seaboard.

Eleven miles of groomed cross-country ski trails right on campus and close to world-class alpine skiing.

White-water raft, kayak or canoe on the dozens of rivers and streams near campus.

Maine Bound climbing wallMaine Bound

One of the most popular programs on campus and one of the most extensive programs of its kind in the Northeast. Join in kayaking, rock climbing, backpacking, camping and wilderness medicine tours. Maine Bound has the state's most challenging indoor climbing wall and an outdoor ropes course.
