The Arts
At UMaine, the arts are a way of
life.
Performance Arts
Each year, the School of Performing Arts offers over 40 music,
theater and dance performances by students, faculty and visiting
artists.
Visual Arts
Lord Hall is the home of the Art Department, with state-of-the-art
classrooms and creative learning spaces, exhibition gallery,
auditorium and faculty offices. There are plans for an expanded
studio art complex in Alumni Hall, with new space for 3D design,
ceramics and sculpture.
The UMaine Museum of Art in downtown
Bangor is also expanding. The museum already has a permanent
collection of more than 5,700 works by such master artists as
Picasso, Lichtenstein, Wyeth and Whistler.

"The more time I spend at
UMaine, the more my confidence grows, the more I feel
inspired. Working at the School of Performing Arts has
really helped build that in me. I'm on a first-name basis
with most of my professors and I feel they really go the
extra mile if you need it. I spent six months abroad in
Milan, Italy through International Programs, and it was one
of the most rewarding things I've ever done. International
Programs really does make it easy for you to go anywhere."
