Nutting Hall houses the departments of Forest
Management and Wildlife Ecology. It also is the home
of the Cooperative Forestry Research Unit, Forest Ecosystem
Science, and the Maine Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research
Unit.
Extensively renovated in 2000, Oak
Hall is a residence hall located along the mall on the west side
of campus. From the windows that face the mall, one can
view and enjoy the bustling heart of campus, with the Memorial Gym
and Fogler Library anchoring each end.
Through its collections and programs, the Page Farm and Home
Museum contributes to UMaine's educational mission. Here, you will
learn about the industry, agriculture, economy, and home-life of
the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The restored White Farm
barn, a post and beam structure built in 1833, is the centerpiece
of the museum, which has become home for the state's most
important collection of farm technologies and artifacts of rural
culture.
Inside Fogler, it's more than just the stunning architecture that grabs you, or, for that matter, the appealing aroma of the fresh-brewed coffee and pastries you can enjoy there. The library's collections are equally impressive, including approximately 950,000 volumes, 6,700 periodical subscriptions, 1.5 million microforms, 2.1 million government publications, and a rapidly growing number of electronic resources.
Fogler Library anchors UMaine, standing tall at the end of the popular,
tree-lined campus mall. Ranked among the top library's in the county,
Fogler is the state’s largest research library, with collections
and services supporting the faculty, students, and staff of the university
as well as the residents of Maine.
Throughout UMaine, tucked amid the architecture and the hum of activity that brims on campus, are the gardens. Here, in the Rose Garden, which is adjacent to the Maine Center for the Arts and a popular stopping point for those on their way to a performance, sculpture and flora combine to create a peaceful retreat. Sit, relax and enjoy.
